This is not a way to make fast money
In fact, right now, it’s not the way to make any money. Currently, the printer pretty much gets it all. With the exception of Sales Reps, who will be revered as gods and paid a commission.
Right now, it’s all about the guts and glory of producing an ink-on-newsprint magazine in a world that only wants your money and obedience.
Magazine Distributors
The distribution is mostly done in Eugene, Portland, Seattle and then some other spots around the PNW.
Can you drop some off at our favorite places? Maybe you have a favorite place that needs some Horses.
Cartoonists
Unusual? Good. Harsh? Also good. So weird that your work threatens to cause a multiverse crisis that can only be stopped by a ragtag team of upright animal characters in a difficult-to-follow crossover adventure? Terrific!
Staff Writers
We’re looking for features, essays, interviews, reviews, photojournalism, fiction—whatever compels you. Responsible, professional people only. Send us a sample of your writing, a resume and a prospect\lS of any ideas that you might have. Must have prior writing experience.
Photographers
Journalistic photographers willing to work with our designer and editors on features and other assignments. Must have experience. Send resume and photos. Low-res is fine for this stage.
Sales Reps
Scour the land for the cause of EMERGENCY HORSE. We need Sales Reps to hit the streets and sell advertising in Portland, Eugene, and the rest of the Willamette metropolis. Salary is on a sliding-scale commission basis. The more you sell the higher the commission. Capiche? Must have the gumption to be aggressive enough to go door-to-door and have confidence in the product you’re selling. Prior experience is required, though if you have plenty of chutzpah we’re interested.
